Empowering ChangeThrough Neuroscience & Relational Expertise!

When Understanding the Brain Changes Everything! Recently, I worked with an organization facing a common but deeply challenging issue: staff and leadership were struggling to have difficult conversations with each other, with students, and with themselves. At our initial meeting, it became clear that many staff weren’t aware of how stress responses work, or that these reactions are a normal, involuntary way the brain and body respond to perceived threat. Without this understanding, it was easy to take those reactions personally, leading to conflict, confusion, and concern. In a specific situation, a student, under stress, often became defensive and aggressive. Staff felt overwhelmed and were unsure of how to respond. Conversations quickly turned to discipline where they even questioned whether the student should be allowed to continue their education. Working closely with management, staff, and students, I facilitated training on the neuroscience of stress, helping everyone understand their own nervous system responses, and how to recognize and respond to them in others. We explored coping strategies, self-regulation tools, and how to stay grounded in moments of tension.   Once the group understood that stress responses aren’t personal and that they’re physiological, everything shifted. What once felt like defiance now looked like distress. What once seemed like aggression was reframed as self-protection. And that student? With the right support, they not only stayed in the program, but they also completed their qualification with flying colors. This is what happens when we make space for understanding before reaction, compassion before consequence, and regulation before resolution. It’s not soft. It’s science. And it works.

Hi, I’m Shilpa, founder of Rise Coaching and Consultancy Limited, trauma-informed consultant, neuroscience educator, and lifelong believer in the power of healing and growth through understanding and compassion.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, and human connection. My journey has taken me through the worlds of child and adolescent trauma, attachment, brain development, brain injury, and parenting. I have always had a deep interest in how the brain and nervous system shape our experiences, relationships, and potential.

I’ve held leadership and management roles, supported teams to grow and flourish, and worked extensively with individuals and organizations, from corporates to schools, social services to parents to individuals, helping them create spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported.

One of my greatest strengths and something I consider my superpower is the ability to take complex, clinical concepts and translate them into everyday language that people from all walks of life can understand and apply. Whether I’m speaking with executives, educators, or families, I meet people where they are and share science in a way that feels simple, relevant, and practical.

I’m passionate about the nervous system, stress responses, and the power of relational safety. I believe deeply in the simplicity of these insights and in how transformational they can be when shared with empathy and clarity. When people understand how their brains and bodies respond to stress, everything changes.

At the heart of my work is a strong belief in the importance of safe relationships, connection, and belonging. I’ve seen time and again that when people are listened to with empathy and without judgment, and when spaces of vulnerability are cultivated, individuals, teams, and organisations don’t just cope, they thrive and succeed.

I also bring this heart and knowledge into my work as founder of Diamonds in the Rough Charitable Trust (est. 2017), supporting young families to reach their full potential. This work keeps me grounded in purpose and reminds me of the deep resilience we all carry.

If your organisation is ready to shift from stress to strategy, from survival to sustainability, or from reaction to regulation I’m here to help. Let me support you to create stronger leaders, healthier teams, and cultures of connection.

Let’s help your people become unstuck, flourish, and truly thrive… from the inside out.
